mdi - metatarsal decompression implant
The MDI is designed to overcome the functional variables often seen in Stage III hallux rigidus or hallux valgus with arthritis. Traditional methodology has in most cases focused on correcting the wrong side of the joint.
Articular cartilage damage to is typically more extensive on the metatarsal head as opposed to the phalangeal base. Recent studies have demonstrated the most severe damage is on the distal dorsal area of the metatarsal head. Historically metatarsal resurfacing implants have not shown satisfactory results.
- • Highly engineered articular surface with progressive decompression
- • An angled bone cut to minimize weight-bearing and shear forces
• Minimal bone resection
